Attorney Gordon Diefenbach is the Founding Member of Diefenbach, PLLC, a boutique Wall Street law firm. Concentrating in civil litigation since 1986, he has devoted his entire career as a trial lawyer. A Cornell University graduate, B.A. with Honors, in 1983, he then obtained his J.D. from the University at Buffalo Faculty of Law & Jurisprudence in 1986. He is admitted to practice law in New York, as well as in various Federal Courts, including the United States Supreme Court. With over 27 years of courtroom battles as a trial lawyer, he has made thousands of court appearances in the New York courts. In 1989, he was one of the Junior Associates under the wing of legal luminary Frank Bensel, who defended New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center against the Andy Warhol estate, which had sued the hospital for the alleged negligent death of Andy Warhol at that hospital. In 2002, on another major case, he was hired to engage in extensive legal research and appellate practice for a trial lawyer who had successfully obtained a $55 million jury verdict against Lloyd's of London. In 2004, he was hired by a trial attorney who successfully sued the City of New York in a police brutality case, where the latter obtained a jury verdict of $ 50 Million. In 2011, he helped devise a unique custody arrangement for two parents that simply would not stop litigating over sole custody: parenting time for 5 of the 7 days of the week would be split 6 months to one, 6 months to the other and was lauded by the Judge as a surprisingly unique and, more importantly, creative, resolution. His experience in trial tactics and litigation includes complex civil litigation and appeals in both the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, as well as to the various Appellate Divisions of the New York State Courts. Before establishing the Diefenbach law firm, he was a trial lawyer at Napoli Bern Ripka, LLP, hired exclusively to do that law firm's trials because of his proven track record of winning trials. He learned trial tactics from some of the best masters of the courtroom, Frank Bensel and George VanSetter, and then in early 2000 branched out into matrimonial litigation, particularly child custody battles. And for those, one client has said "He has the levity of a dove and the tenacity of a barracuda." He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Federal Bar Council, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, and has been a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (ABCNY). In 1998 he was nominated to become a member of the ABCNY's Committee on Central and Eastern European Affairs, and is a former Arbitrator for the New York Civil Courts, having taken the New York Judges' Oath of Office in that capacity at that time.
